Julieta is a middle-aged woman living in Madrid with her boyfriend Lorenzo.

They are going to move to Portugal but plans change when she finds out that her estranged daughter Antia is living in Switzerland, married and has three children.  She hasn’t seen her for 12 years and is determined to make herself available should Antia decide to contact her.

Almodovar takes us on a journey through their past to make sense of the present.
